CHARITIES

Karyn Fowler is our 2007 Charities Chairperson

Donations from the 50/50 Raffle, held at our Membership Meetings and other events are contributors to the following Charities.  Cowtown Members also donate needed items, their time and additional monetary donations above and beyond the formal CTV Charity Program.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (April 7, 2007)

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world. In addition to raising funds, the Komen Race for the Cure® Series is committed to educating the public about early detection, the strongest method of surviving this life-threatening disease. The five-year survival rate is 95 percent when the disease is discovered while still confined to the breast.  Up to 75% of the net income stays in the local community to fund breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment projects. A minimum of 25% supports ground-breaking breast cancer research, awards, education and conferences around the world.  COMMENT: Club members and friends afflicted (both survivors and not).

Make A Wish

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities.

National Kidney Foundation Walk

The National Kidney Foundation's Kidney Walk is a non-competitive walk focusing on education and prevention of kidney and urinary tract diseases, and awareness of the need for organ donation. The Kidney Walk presents an occasion for dialysis patients, organ transplant recipients, donor families, living donors, the medical and business communities, and the general public to celebrate life and create lasting community advocacy and long-term support for the Foundation's mission.

While raising funds for the National Kidney Foundation's programs and services, the Kidney Walk provides an opportunity for family, friends and colleagues to participate in an inspiring, community-based event.

Kidney Walks are held all over the country from early spring to late fall. Refer to the Kidney Walk schedule to find out if there is a Kidney Walk in your area.

2007 Walkers: Cassie, Andrew & Blake Handlin, Glenda McMahan, Judy Shanholtz, Sylvia Hoaldridge, Debbie & Jerry Lindsey - thanks Cowtown for the NKF donations

Speedway Children’s Charities

Speedway Children's Charities is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children!  Our priority is improving the quality of life for children in need and that mission remains the same throughout our growth. Through donations, sponsorships and fundraising events we distribute funds to qualified non-profit organizations with the same mission as ours.  TMS Lap Events this year are being held on May 13th and Sept 9th.  The May Laps is our 100%'er Club Event

Welcome Home Heroes

The www.welcometroops.com is a new activity for Cowtown and we are proud of our Troops and their dedication.

This activity is mostly servicemen and servicewomen who are on two week R&R leave from overseas, mostly from either Iraq, Afghanistan, or Kuwait. This is their first landing on US soil, and from here they board other flights or catch rides with family for the trips to their hometown. With the outstanding support of DFW Airport, a daily welcome party is held to give them a warm reception and let them know the folks here at home support them. As they get off of the plane and exit customs they encounter our party...a group of enthusiastic patriotic Americans of all ages with flags, balloons and posters applauding and shaking their hands.
