School Display, Frisco, TX - 7-9 pm
our local elementary is holding a Sock Hop
to help the kids study for the upcoming TAKS
test. The theme is the 50s. The kids will
dress in 50s gear, listen to 50s music and
even have a dance contest to The Twist. As
part of the festivities, we’d love to have
some vintage cars on hand so the kids can
have their pictures made beside the cars. To
set the mood, we’d like to have the cars
outside the school when the kids get out at
3 pm. If anyone has a couple of hours free
and a fun car to share with our kids, please
contact me ASAP. The kids would love it and
the parents would be eternally grateful! Of

2008 It’s Not Your
Daddy’s Car Show and Motorcycle - Join
us at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino
(Opelousas, LA, I-49 @ Creswell Lane Exit). Set
up for Cars will begin at 8am and Motorcycles at
10am. Show opens to the public for viewing and
voting at 10am. Winners will be announced at
3pm. Registration is $30 for Cars/$20 for
Motorcycles before show and $35 for Cars/$25 for
Motorcycles the day of the show. The first 150
entrants receive a goody bag along with a free
t-shirt.

Yesterday's Retro Blast Cruise & Tunes is here!
Come and join us for our 5th Annual Car
Show and Cruise at our Bridgeport
location on Saturday April 19th. We will be
having plenty of things happening all day
starting around 4:30 or 5 p.m. Proceeds from
this show are benefiting the Yesterday's Student
Athlete Scholarship Fund which are given to a
male and female senior at both the Decatur and
Bridgeport High Schools. I've attached a flyer

The 36th annual Pate
Swap Meet will be held on the paved
surface outside the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort
Worth, on April 24 through April 27, 2008. The
Pate Swap Meet, one of the three largest swap
meets in the country, has more than a quarter of
a century history of auto swap meets and is
recognized internationally for its diversity of
automotive products offered by its vendors.
Vendors from across the country will fill the
vast acreage with everything automotive -- from
cars to hard-to-find car parts and related
items.
The Pate Swap Meet is the fund raising effort of
seventeen Texas antique automobile clubs. The
first swap meet held by this organization took
place on the grounds of the Pate Museum of
Transportation in 1973. This event grew
tremendously during the 26 years that it was
held on the grounds surrounding the museum.
Changes in the long term usage of much of this
property forced the swap meet to seek a new
location. In 1998, the Pate Swap Meet moved to
the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. These
new facilities provide ample parking for all
visitors to the swap meet, easy access to and
from Interstate 35, unlimited space for camper
parking during the event, and a vast amount of
paved space for the swap meet to expand in the
future. |

Pappa's BBQ - Sunday, June 22, 2008
Finally, we're going to have another one of
our famous Pappa's BBQ casual Sunday car
shows. The idea is simple -
- Go out to your garage or driveway and
admire your fancy car
- Drive your fancy car to Pappas BBQ,
sometime between roughly 11:00 am and 2:00
pm
- Park your fancy car near all of the other
fancy cars
- Walk around and admire all of the other
fancy cars, and meet lots of great people
- Please buy some BBQ when you get hungry -
Pappa's BBQ lets us gather in their parking
lot at no charge
This is meant to be very casual - show up
when you want to, leave when you want to, no
entry fee, no model or year restrictions, no
judging or prizes. Sometimes it's just more
fun that way. This event is being held by
the Mercedes Club of America, but other
clubs are being notified and are encouraged

WHITE LAKE HILLS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOC. –4th of
JULY------ Cruise/Parade/Lunch in the Park/ Car Show—Meet
at Sonic Located at 7608 Grapevine Hwy (The old
North Hills Mall) just 1 blk south of 820 on
Grapevine Hwy.
The Route will be------A blk behind Sonic is Booth
Calloway turn South, follow it across Glenview and
up to Hwy 10, turn Right on Hwy 10 at the 1st light
(1 blk) turn left on to Handley Ederville to Randall
Mill Road turn Right on Randall and follow the road
around the hill. You will come up on a park on the
right side then a small private school on your left,
this road will be Lake Havasac turn left, this is
the White Lake Hills area. Go straight up the Hill
take the little jig and keep going up to the top of
the Hill. That will be 500 blk of Green River Trail.
This is the starting point for the parade. Parade
start at 10:00 sharp.

the Oakland Exit and go across IH-30 and get on the
North side of IH-30 on the service road. You will be
in front of Nolan High school, pass the water tower
and the 1st red light is Willow Ridge. Turn North on
Willow Ridge and look for me in the middle of the
road. If you pass channel 11, turn around. The Park
actually back up to the back drive of channel 11.

allowed in the park except participating Car show

latter that 9:15 and for the cars that want to leave
before the fire works, You will be escorted out at

Vettetastick 2008 - Vettetastic, a
public art project, will grace the streets of South
Central Kentucky during the summer of 2008,
featuring as many as 300 ’57 Corvettes, as well as
treasure hunts, self-guided road course tour maps, a
Vettetastic '57 Corvette coffee table book, a ’50s
preview party, a people’s choice award and much,
much more.
Sponsors will work with artists of their choice to
decorate, paint and otherwise adorn a 1:2.8 scale,
fiberglass ’57 Corvette measuring approximately five
feet long, two feet wide and 18 inches tall. Only
300, numbered, fiberglass Corvettes will be
available for sponsorship and auctioned off during
the 2008 National Corvette Homecoming.
Vettetastic will be a biannual event featuring a new
model for auction every other year. Anticipated
models include the ’63 Split Window Coupe in 2010,
the ’68 Stingray in 2012, the C5 in 2014 and the Z06
in 2016.
Proceeds from Vettetastic will be used to support
Red Cross’ mission to provide relief to victims of
disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and
respond to emergencies, as well as to support
programs like Armed Forces Emergency Services,
Health and Safety Education, Disaster Services,
Youth Disaster Response, International Services and
more. |

to 4 pm (set up one hour before and tear down and clean up one hour after)
Place: FHS Student parking lot
Events and activities:
• Car Show - Car Show registration will be from 10-12. - Cars from any era are
eligible to enter. - Judging will begin at noon and winners will be awarded by
2:00. - Each entry cost $20.00.
• Performances from different groups - If your organization would like to
perform please contact JoNeita Kelly to arrange a performance time at
joneita.kelly@quinlanisd.net. Each performance needs to be no more than 30 min
long. - Performances can be held outside and a sound system will be available.
• Silent Auction - Any school organization that donates a basket for the silent
auction will receive 50% of the profit make from their donation. - Easy money
for your group. - Vendors that would like to donate will receive a letter of
donation for tax purposes.
• Vendor Booths - Vendors can rent a booth for $50.00 per booth. - Vendors, who
will be selling drinks or food, can rent a booth for $75.00 per booth.
• School groups booth/games - School groups can rent a booth for $30.00 per
booth - Groups can sell items, or play games for a profit.

Classic Cars Enthusiasts Invited To Tour the Bluegrass -
Proceeds benefit the Bill Collins Parkinson's Center - Louisville, Ky. – Join
the adventure by participating in the Bluegrass 1000 Road Tour, October 6-9,
2008. Classic cars and their owners will take to the most
beautiful roads in Kentucky for the event. Registration for
participation is being accepted now. Accommodations will be top-drawer,
and well-equipped support personnel will accompany the tour every mile to ensure
that the trip is a pleasure for all participants. Interested participants or

This inaugural tour will cover 70 of Kentucky's most scenic roadways, and
proceeds will benefit the Bill Collins Parkinson's Center at the Frazier Rehab
Institute of Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's Foundation. The Bluegrass 1000 will
cover approximately 250 miles per day for four days, with each day's tour
covering some of the most scenic and challenging back roads in the country. The
route was designed to give participants the utmost in driving pleasure, while
also exposing them to some of the premier attractions in the Commonwealth of
Kentucky. The Bluegrass 1000 will make stops at Moonlit Bar-B-Q in
Owensboro, Cumberland Falls, Red River Gorge, Natural Bridge, Elk Creek Vineyard
and the Kentucky Speedway, where participants will get the chance to experience
the high-banked Tri-oval track. Participation is limited to the first 60
