Today was also the second day of Funkhana Competition
...our group opted for the Bus Tours so no photos of the other participants :(

Day Five - Two Bus Tours - The Harley Davidson Plant & the Sunken Steamboart Arabia
or Independence and Kansas City
We departed the north end of the Convention Center for the bus ride to Kansas City

The major steps of building the components of the Harley; which we saw in person as we toured the plant - we watched them build the V-Rod

The major steps in building a Harley

A couple of engines on display - one a cut-away

Four Harleys were setup for you to sit and feel the bikes - Donna and Carlanne even simulated racing them.

a few guys too the back seat to their biker babes

time to depart the Harley plant and ride into Kansas City to enjoy lunch - before the second part of the tours

The Sunken Steamboat Arabia - our choice
We really didn't know what to expect, other than what we had read on the internet

The original paddle wheel mechanism was on display as you walked in ...the paddles are not original

The story of the Arabia told the abbreviated story The Map showed where they found the boat - not still in the river due to river change over the years

After the movie, one of the original residents told the story of when it happened along with the activities to raise it

The storyline and photos from the discovery and recovery were amazing

The only real remains of the steamboat; after being buried for x years

The Tobener family funded the excavation
