Friday Night at the Mid-America Science Museum (continued)

We enjoyed a buffet dinner which included of fried chicken, catfish, shrimp along with sides, fried pies, tea or soft drinks.
Cathy, Steve provided this photo which shows a different plat of food???

Some ate outside to enjoy the nice evening while others dined at the tables and on their laps indoors.

  several neat mechanically automated contraptions

As we were finishing dinner, the demonstration of the “Tesla Conical Coil” was underway, right in front of where we were sitting.
The speaker shared the history including the devices which took advantage of Nikola Tesla’s (father of electricity) coil technology; i.e. the AC electric generator, AC motor, radio, turbine and over 250 others.

Another demonstration asked for volunteers where the electricity passed thru them, showing that electricity could be controlled thru the air waves, harmlessly. This demonstration asked for volunteers which ended up with their hair stand outright from their head; until the coil was turned off and discharged. Dollie and Mary Anne tried it after the formal demonstration.

A view from the 2nd floor - lots of exhibits

most everyone has played with a version of this one

Glenda, Cathy, Kevin & Steve playing  Dollie tinkering

  David & Terri experimenting

They had several mirror exhibits, some like this one Linda was having fun with; this one was about illusions

Superwoman Terri at one that demonstrated mechanical moments and leverage - here she is pushing up a brick wall

Mid-Night Cruise from the Mid-America Science Museum

We left the museum around nine, as the Vettes were staring to line-up for the Midnight Cruise. We opted to head back to the hotel to watch the cruise rather than to participate.

Some of our members had been on the porch all evening, saving seating for the rest of the group so we could sit and watch.

it was Prom night and the hotel was hosting several Proms in the Ballrooms.

There were lots of Vettes in the police escorted cruise - one of the fastest cruises we have seen thru town ...however, they kept the lights green until all the Vettes were thru.

We enjoyed visiting on the porch at the hotel 'til late that evening, then we called finally calling it quits.
