Thursday
The departure location was the Cracker Barrel in Burleson, TX.

If you've ever been on one of Doug's cruises, you know that Interstates are a last resort!

We took I-35 south to Waco

Our first pit stop was in Marlin, TX
then on down the back roads where it was a lot more scenic and fun to drive

Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham, TX
today's feature stop
It wasn't hard to know you were there.  Besides hundreds of people, the signs, the signature icon of the little girl with the cow let you know.

The old Delivery Truck

You can't pre-book a tour, it has to be done when you arrive

we had about an hour to kill so we visited, enjoyed a cup of ice cream and walked thru their store

About 10 minutes before our scheduled tour time, we went into the Tour Center

Note: Photos are not permitted on the tours

after the tour, you are treated to a free cup of ice cream

a photo of "part" of the buildings at the creamery

Lunch at Must Be Heaven in Brenham, TX
yes, we ate desert (ice cream) before lunch

parking behind main streeton the corner 2 blocks away

a great deli and wow - the deserts!!!!

one side was also an old malt shop and most of the restaurant was decorated with lots of memorabilia

After lunch you had several options: to walk around town, gather cruiser points and/or go back to the hotel and relax - many enjoyed the pool back at the hotel

Have you ever run across a street with your name?

The Hampton Inn was our hotel for the evening, complete with a nice reception

Dinner at Earnie's All American Bistro in Brenham, TX
an Italian restaurant with lots of other options as well

They had set our reservation up in a private dinning room with two long tables - great food

CONTINUE TO DAY TWO
