Friday Morning
Driver's Meeting and departure was at the Cracker Barrel on I-20 & Winscot in Ft Worth
At one point we had 26 cars signed up - for varying reasons, we ended up with 15; a great size for this type of trip

 Doug held the Driver's Meeting

The first "pit stop" was in Hamilton, after enjoying a few back roads on an indirect route (not 281)

From Hamilton we headed off on another back road to end up on Hwy 16

A lunch stop at Cooper's BBQ (the original) in Llano, TX

Before arriving in Fredericksburg, we took the short drive east of Hwy 16 known as the Willow City Loop.  You just never know what you will see there - even when the bluebonnets aren't blooming

Willow City Loop (26 photos)

The back roads are definitely more fun ...at least driving the Corvettes - the bugs wouldn't agree

Most of the group stayed at the Best Western in Fredericksburg.  We have stayed here as a group before and the staff was always friendly - no so this time; very cold, unhelpful and sometimes rude.

Friday Evening
Folks had time to clean the bugs, relax, swim, etc after we arrived, before heading to dinner
Heading out for dinner, we saw a variety of Street Rods We had a private room reserved at the Hill Top Cafe

The food was very good and good service; surprising looking at the outside.  Hint: do not use GPS - it is NE of town not South
