Tuesday Morning
The parking lot was fairly empty since today was also
Drag Racing - we had booked the Chicago Tour before
drags were switched to Tues so we went ahead and enjoyed
Chicago
Chicago Tour Bus Trips
they had booked tour buses so
attendees could enjoy Chicago Tours any of the three
days from Tuesday thru Thursday - very interesting
we passed Grant Park while on the buss and noticed
Agora, the headless statues, some 106
cast iron figures ... H 9 ft. each... weighing eleven
hundred pounds each .. created in Poland
Our bus driver was great - he took us to the pier just
north of Soldier Field, so we could get photos of the
Chicago skyline with the Navy Pier in the
background ...then it was off to our drop-off point, just
north of
Millennium Park
The architecture in the city varied from very old and
historic to the most modern you could imagine
The
Aqua building was very unique, hard
to figure out what is going on until you study it.
The illusion you first see is caused by the very unusual
shaped balconies
we walked to Navy
Pierfrom the drop off point - some
underground as you see here - the daylight is normal
street level
...but wait Doc - they didn't have these on fighter planes
;)
From Navy Pier we took a water taxi back to the
Magnificent Mile (expensive shops)
we walked past lots of historical building and landmarks
on our way to grab some lunch
Lunch - traditional Deep Dish Chicago Pizza at
Giordano's ...WOW! it
was all Glenda & I could do to eat three pieces of a 10"
Back at
Millennium Park we stopped by the
Crown Fountain - The fountain
consists of two 50-foot glass block towers at each end of
a shallow reflecting pool.
The
Cloud Gate was a popular piece of Art
- it is a 110-ton elliptical sculpture is forged of a
seamless series of highly polished stainless steel
