The Trip Down - Friday,
July 23rd
All of the Cowtown attendees traveled at different
times so there was no Caravan of the 3 Vehicles that
drove - we headed out Thursday night after work,
making it just East of Shreveport; up early on
Friday to hit the road.
...as we crossed into Mississippi, we stopped at the
visitor's center for a leg stretch - we enjoy looking
at the old bridges plus this center had lots of Civil War
History |
We spotted the
battleship USS Alabama in Mobile, AL, unfortunately no
time to stop to tour |
We did make our next stop at the welcome center in Florida |
soon after hitting the Florida panhandle, we caught the
tropical storm that all of us had been watching the
forecast for |
...finally the rain stopped and we needed a "back-road
fix" so we cut thru heading SE |
Before finding our hotel, we came upon the
Veteran's Memorial Park |

we were nearing Palm Beach Florida |
Saturday @ Convention we arrived
around 2pm from the 1,280 mile drive
We arrived at our home for the next week, the
Marriott in Palm Beach Gardens, FL |
We made the mistake of parking by the shrubs where the
water did a number on our paint
...then we saw the
NKF
2010 Grand Sport Corvette that we hoped to drive
hom at the end of the week |
The view from our 7th floor room |
...the NCCC Flag was flying out front |
We checked in for Convention |
...we found the hospitality room, sponsored by
Hagerty |
Carolyn Montgomery (Convention
Chairperson) was selling logo merchandise |
Lots of raffle items besides the 2010 Grand Sport -
proceeds to benefit the
NKF |
...we found several of the SWR members (and others) out in
the pool - what's that? ...Jell-O-shots?
Tonight, several of us headed over to
Havana, a Cuban Restaurant in West
Palm Beach. Thanks to Mary Anne booking it, we enjoyed a
private dinning room with great service and
food. |
