...back on the road again
30 miles up Hwy 281 and off to the east, we twisted down the
narrow road to our next winery tour and tasting.
we new we were close when we saw the vineyards |
...then the sign - we found it -
Spicewood Vineyards |
Jeff (winemaker) gave us some history and
discussed their winemaking process |
Ron (owner) took care of us and had
everything ready when we arrive. A much smaller volume
winery than the first but some great wines |
Jeff then took us to the "Barrel room" to complete the tour
and processing discussion - using Oak & SS barrels |
back upstairs, Brad did an awesome job of
explaining the wines and assisting us with our tastings |
the tasting room has some nice seating areas with the
football game on to satisfy the men |
a grape press sitting out front |
we enjoyed the back roads from Spicewood,
heading
114 miles up Hwy 281 to Hamilton, then over to
Cranfills Gap |
the remaining group made a leg stretch and refreshment stop
at the
Horny
Toad Bar & Grill |
...after enjoying some snacks and refreshments, we said our
goodbyes and headed north, which took us down our last fun
back roads ending the cruise in
Glenrose, TX |
