Corvette, did you know….
Corvette is the longest produced sports car
in the world.
Original design was named “Project Opel”. The
target price was $2000.00

1953 the retail price was $3,513.... Adjust
for inflation, $31,608.
Corvette is the only vehicle to ever offer a
wrap-around windshield.
The original 1953 Corvette offered only 2
options—a heater for $91 and an AM radio for $145.
A Corvette with all the trimmings would set
you back a total of $3,749.
Vehicles made in 1953 were primarily
constructed of steel—this made the Corvette’s innovative use of
fiberglass a new and exciting feature.
The 1953 Corvette came in only one-color
option: Polo White with a red interior. The last year the Polo White
color was used was 1957.

LowDown Article - Historian
September 2025
I had great fun putting together the
Cowtown Vettes 50th Anniversary scrapbook. I tried to encompass a
great deal of what happened during the decade of 2015 to 2024... it was
fun looking back through pictures, the website and LowDowns from that
period of time.
This era was dissected by the Covid
pandemic of 2020 which brought about a myriad of changes to how we operate
on a daily basis in life overall as well as as a club.
First of all our membership is getting
older not only locally, but regionally and nationally, also. Venues
for racing or events are not as readily available or affordable.
From a historical point of view, going
forward I feel we will be relying on our digital LowDown for club info and
memories as well as the new website (when it is available) where our
current activities as well as
past activities, etc will be archived.
The historian will still be responsible
for gathering misc. info, club trophies, etc.
Thanks again to Mack Maxwell for storing
our physical archives.

If you have not rec’d your 50 th Anniversary
Cowtown Vettes commemorative Deck of Playing Cards, please attend the next
Membership Meeting and see me. Each primary member /
household receives one deck of cards. I’ll bring a few
decks on the next cruise as well. If you’d like an extra
set (or two), see me as well, we did purchase extra decks of cards- these
are $5 per deck.
We will have the Events, Socials and such in the
next Slideshow. The slideshow will continue to
include some Corvette Trivia along with various other Corvette
happenings around the country. Brian (our webmaster) does post a
lower-resolution version online, on the CTV Website. Please provide any
submissions for the slideshow to me no later than Sunday evening of
the Membership Meeting week.
If you have been working on or updating your
Corvette with new items …or if you have taken a trip in your Corvette and
have some photos to share with membership, please send those to me and
I’ll include them in the monthly slideshow. Cowtown’s
Microsoft O365 account allows us to use OneDrive, which makes
it much easier for you to provide high-resolution photos from events for the
web and/or monthly slideshow. If you would like to share photos, please
take them in high-resolution; if not, they can’t be used on
the big screen since they would show grainy / blurry. These are needed
by noon, the Monday before the Membership Meeting. If you have questions,
please contact me and I’ll provide you with more information and the
OneDrive link to share your photos – basically use the highest
resolution option you can set on your camera or smartphone .
When you receive a CTV-ALL eMail blast, we would
request that you please only reply to the
originator when you are replying to a CTV-ALL email. When you opt
to reply, simply select Reply on the email, then remove
the CTV-All entry and replace it with the email address of the
originator. If you are sending CTV-ALL emails, please include your email
address in the body of the email so you have that address handy.
If you change your email or home address, Corvette, or
other info – please drop an email to
CTV-Membership@groups.io.
If you are not receiving CTV-ALL emails, please get
with me so we can either add you or figure out why you aren’t receiving
them.
More information on email distribution lists and the
acceptable use of them
can be found on our
website .
Facebook – if you are on Facebook and not a “friend” of
Cowtown Vettes, members cannot include you in tags at events; these tags
show your non-club member friends all the fun we are having. Who knows,
maybe some of you are in the witness protection program and
don’t want to be tagged J If you are
posting, be sure to tag Cowtown Vettes so it appears on our Facebook
news feed.

Hello Fellow Cruisers,
A Thank You to all of my special
Cowtown Vettes friends,
For
all of your love and support I want to say thank you from
the bottom of my heart. I've said this before and I'll say
it again ' we came for the cars but stayed for the PEOPLE.'
Special thanks to Larry and Vicki
for all your support and efforts organizing the Parade of
Love, as I like to call it.
Vicki also compiled a video and
posted it to YouTube.

Because of the video Cydnie and I
received countless calls, text, and emails expressing
what a wonderful and moving gesture the car club did.
A heart felt THANKS to all
the wonderful and caring people of Cowtown Vettes.

Hi everyone,
Our 50/50
drawing last month resulted in a win of $100 by our President, Kim West,
and $100 increase in our funds for our chosen charities. Thank you
all for your contributions to our charity fund so we can realize our
shared goals!
At the
July meeting, we voted to send $500 from our charity fund to the The
Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, to be spent on relief
and rebuilding efforts in the multiple counties affected by the flood in
Central Texas on the 4th of July. Thank you all for your
generosity!
On
Friday, July 25th, ten members of our club participated in the Christmas
in July event at Cook Children’s. We dressed in Christmas colors
and attire and helped the children pick out their favorite Christmas
gifts! In addition to Cowtown Vettes members, Santa and Mrs. Claus
and the Grinch showed up, along with a wacky doctor and his assistant.
A fun time was had by all and, to top it off, our group had Mexican food
afterward! There will be another event in December, so if you
missed this one, there is still an opportunity to take part in the
future.
There are
no events currently scheduled for charity. We will be in touch
with the Tarrant Area Food Bank and Cook Children’s for events in
November and December, respectively. Until then your Charity
Co-Chairs will be hard at work requesting gifts, donations and door
prizes for our October car show. If you know of a business that
you think might like to contribute an item for our car show, please
contact either one of us.
Thanks!

We look forward to seeing you all
soon!

Chevy's Mightiest Corvettes Snatch American Nürburgring Lap Record from
Ford
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
The Mustang GTD's lap record among American automakers falls to
the new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
As Happy Gilmore would say, "somebody's
closer."
Rather than talking about a tee shot, though, we're referring to
Chevrolet's latest Nürburgring lap time, which is closer to zero than
Ford's most recent Nürburgring lap time set by the
Mustang GTD.
This, of course, is impressive stuff for both performance vehicles. The
Mustang GTD, Ford's $350,000-plus super-’Stang that's basically
a race car clothed in Mustang bodywork, became the
first American production car to break the seven-minute mark on
its record-setting lap. Now, just a short while later, Chevrolet has run
its new
1,064-hp ZR1 and
hybridized, 1,250-hp ZR1X
models around
the ’Ring and, well, beaten Ford's achievement.

The beefiest ’Vettes are
separated by, essentially, their aero packages and the X's extra
horsepower thanks to a pair of electric motors on its front axle. In
other words, the X is simply more track-focused of the two ZR1s,
and, predictably, it set the fastest lap time of the two, a
bilstering 6:49.275 effort with development engineer Drew Cattell at
the wheel. He now becomes the fastest non-pro-driver ever
at the ’Ring, while the ZR1X is the quickest vehicle from an
American manufacturer to circle the Green Hell.

The new Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo concepts
envision a futuristic Corvette hypercar.
When Chevrolet isn’t busy setting records at the Nürburgring with
the Corvette ZR1X, its designers are back in the lab, cooking up
concepts that imagine the far-off future of America’s favorite
sports car.
In April, GM’s advanced design studio in the UK unveiled this
futuristic beauty. In July, designers in Pasadena revealed this
stunning concept. Now, Chevy is introducing yet another Corvette
concept at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, in California—and it
might be the best one yet.

LowDown Article - NCM Ambassador
Sept 2025
“The mission of the National Corvette
Museum is to educate worldwide
audiences on the evolution of the
Corvette --America’s Sports Car-- through collections, preservation, and
celebration of its legacy.”
At the museum’s 31st anniversary
celebration that was just held on August 28 - 30, 2025, Zora Arkus -
Duntov’s, only Corvette, fully restored was debuted. Who, you ask,
is Zora Arkus - Duntov? Depending on where you read he is referred
to as either the “Father of the Corvette” or the “Godfather of the
Corvette” although Harley Earl was the original designer of the
Corvette. After seeing the 1953 Corvette on display in New York
City, Arkus - Duntov wrote General Motors that he found the car
“visually superb, but was disappointed with what was underneath”.
He went to work at GM in May of 1953 as a staff engineer with the idea
of changing that perception and was “pivotal in elevating the Corvette
into a world class performance vehicle”. The only Corvette Arkus -
Duntov owned was a retirement gift from Chevrolet. You can read more
about his life and work on the museum’s website or other online sources.
For the latest on museum happenings you
can go to the website for info. Museum members can log onto the website
for more news and info. As always the museum offers car raffles, NCM
insurance, shopping and event info as well as article about exhibits.

Cowtown Vette’s 23rd
Annual Car Show Coming Soon
The Car Show Committee is excited about our
23rd annual corvette show scheduled for October 18,
2025 at Jerry’s Chevrolet in Burleson, Texas. This is a
new location for the show and it has been great to work with Jerry’s as
we plan this year’s show. It will be great to have a covered
location. It’s rain or shine!
This is a club show and we need help from all
members to make it successful. What can you do to help us?
-Do you know anyone who might like to
be a vendor at our show?
-Do you know any business that would
donate 110 items for our goody bags?
-We would appreciate any new gift
items for the Door Prizes or the 50/50 prizes.
-We need workers for the day of the
show. Signup sheets will be at the September
meeting. We need people to help with parking, registration and
selling 50/50 tickets.
AND….
-Grab a registration form at the
meeting and complete your own registration for the show.
We are looking forward to another great show!
Please contact us if you can help with any of the above and we will get
you to the right person on the committee.

Welcome to Cowtown
This year eight new and
newer members have attended
Cowtown 101. It was a
pleasure to get to know each
of them better. Cowtown 101
is informational and
includes discussion time to
ask questions and learn more
about each members'
interests.
The next
Cowtown 101 will be held on,
Wednesday, Oct 1 at
6:15, just prior to
that month's Club Meeting.
We have new members who want
to do socials, cruises and
autocross. When you see a
new face, take a few minutes
to welcome them and find out
how much you have in common
besides loving your Vettes!
If you hit it off, please
consider helping them as a

It would be
great to hear from an
experienced member between
meetings who likes to talk
about activities that are
planned and to fill in the
gaps for those who are ready
to try something new. Show
them the ways to have fun
and get involved!
