Our new
meeting place is
Pinstripes
5001 Trailhead Bend Way
Fort Worth, TX 76109
It is in the Clearfork area. It is a 2-story
bistro, bowling, bocce ball, ball room, patios, elegant, and fun place.
I have eaten there, and the food is great and very nice staff members. I
have attached a menus. The food is hand created. They also have a
vegan/vegetarian menu and a gluten friendly menu.
They have a happy hour M-F 3:00-6:30 and
there is a late-night happy hour 8:00-close. They have beer, wine, and
handcrafted cocktails. Our members can arrive early and eat down stair
then move upstairs for the meeting. Or you can order and eat upstairs
during the meeting.
They will be able to accommodate the board
meeting, membership meeting, and new member 101 with ease. There will be
people to direct us to the meeting rooms until we get the lay of the
land. There is an elevator and stairs to go to the different floors.
They have a PA system and screens we can use.
Parking: there is a parking garage straight
across the street for Pinstripes, follow the signs. Free to park there.
There may be street parking too. Try and park on the SW end of the
garage. There are elevators at both ends of the garage. If you park
towards the NW end, you are a block away from Pinstripes. Map attached.
Please arrive a bit early so you can get
parked and into Pinstripes since it's all new to us.
The
March meetings: the membership will be downstairs in the restaurant
area.
The
board meeting will be in the restaurant area too but in a side room in
the back.
Board meeting 6:30
Membership meeting 7:30.
The April meetings will be on the 2nd
floor.
***We can park one, two, three, or 4 cars in
the circle driveway in front of Pinstripes.
**Any volunteers? Email or text me if
you are interested.
I will have a sign-up sheet for the rest of
the year at the meeting. This is a way to advertise the club and draw
attention to Pinstripes. Win win. Mike Lindner will help with parking
and setup in March.
There are windows everywhere. We will be able
to see the cars.
If all works out this will be a great
partnership. Pinstripes is very community and charity oriented. I’m so
looking forward to meeting at our new location.

LowDown Article - Historian
I have been the historian for Cowtown
Vettes since 2014. When the historian position was created back in the day
there were no computers, digital photos, social media, etc. Club
members met together each year or so and collectively put together a
scrapbook of sorts. The bulk of these book are not archivable and are
subject to deterioration. That being said they are still in decent
condition and enjoyable to look at. The last scrapbook was created
in 2014 for the 40th anniversary and the plan it to create one for 2024 to
commemorate the 50th anniversary. Going forward we will rely on our
very comprehensive digital archives for both our written and photographic
histories.
In addition to scrapbooks, we have a fairly
comprehensive collection of LowDowns from the inception of the club and
trophies, etc. mostly from 2000 to the current year. This is
contained in 8 storage boxes and 2 large plastic totes. We have been
fortunate that Sylvia & Larry Hoaldridge offered space to store these
items at their home. These are still at the Hoaldridge home for the time
being, but I am in search of another storage location. Ideally
indoors (heated & cooled) would preserve the life of these items longer,
but they have also “lived” in garage space. If anyone has an area
where these can be stored it would be greatly appreciated.

If you have not rec’d your 50 th Anniversary
Cowtown Vettes commemorative Deck of Playing Cards, please attend the next
Membership Meeting and see me. Each primary member /
household receives one deck of cards. I’ll bring a few
decks on the next cruise as well. If you’d like an extra
set (or two), see me as well, we did purchase extra decks of cards- these
are $5 per deck.
We will have the Events, Socials and such in the
next Slideshow @ Pinstripes. The slideshow will continue to
include some Corvette Trivia along with various other Corvette
happenings around the country. Brian (our webmaster) does post a
lower-resolution version online, on the CTV Website. Please provide any
submissions for the slideshow to me no later than Sunday evening of
the Membership Meeting week.
If you have been working on or updating your
Corvette with new items …or if you have taken a trip in your Corvette and
have some photos to share with membership, please send those to me and
I’ll include them in the monthly slideshow. Cowtown’s
Microsoft O365 account allows us to use OneDrive, which makes
it much easier for you to provide high-resolution photos from events for the
web and/or monthly slideshow. If you would like to share photos, please
take them in high-resolution; if not, they can’t be used on
the big screen since they would show grainy / blurry. These are needed
by noon, the Monday before the Membership Meeting. If you have questions,
please contact me and I’ll provide you with more information and the
OneDrive link to share your photos – basically use the highest
resolution option you can set on your camera or smartphone .
When you receive a CTV-ALL eMail blast, we would
request that you please only reply to the
originator when you are replying to a CTV-ALL email. When you opt
to reply, simply select Reply on the email, then remove
the CTV-All entry and replace it with the email address of the
originator. If you are sending CTV-ALL emails, please include your email
address in the body of the email so you have that address handy.
If you change your email or home address, Corvette, or
other info – please drop an email to
CTV-Membership@groups.io.
If you are not receiving CTV-ALL emails, please get
with me so we can either add you or figure out why you aren’t receiving
them.
More information on email distribution lists and the
acceptable use of them
can be found on our
website .
Facebook – if you are on Facebook and not a “friend” of
Cowtown Vettes, members cannot include you in tags at events; these tags
show your non-club member friends all the fun we are having. Who knows,
maybe some of you are in the witness protection program and
don’t want to be tagged J If you are
posting, be sure to tag Cowtown Vettes so it appears on our Facebook
news feed.

Hello Fellow Cruisers,
Well as I write this, it's 18 degrees outside. That is why I
don't cruise in February. But all is not lost as Spring is just
around the corner and I'm ready to hit the road.
With
that being said, my first cruise of the year will be Saturday
the 29th of March. It's a repeat of a cruise we did last year.
We will be going for breakfast at THE CAFE in Graford. As
before we will meet up behind the Cracker Barral restaurant in
Benbrook (8010 SW Loop 820) for an early departure. Be there by
7:00 am as we will leave by 7:30 am. As always, I'll be
taking the back roads for a more interesting drive. Be sure your
Vette is full of gas and don't forget your FRS two-way radios
set on the 8.1 frequency.
If you are new to Cowtown Vettes, I hope you will come travel
with us and enjoy your first cruise. If you don't have a radio,
there are always loners for you to borrow. This is a great
opportunity for new members to meet and mingle and make some new
friends within our club.
If you have a destination for a cruise or somewhere you would
like to visit don't hesitate to let me know. I'm always looking
for new destinations.
As always if you have a question about the cruise or other
Cruiser Activities you can contact me at my email
geyerdrill@aol.com or text me at 817 819 6798
PS I am still looking for a Cruiser
Co-Chair, so if you have any interest, you can contact me anytime.
Your Cruiser Chairperson

Hi everyone,
The March meeting will be an important one
for Cowtown Vettes’ Charities.
We will all have a voice in choosing the
charities we will support this year.
Everyone will receive a questionnaire to
complete, where you will pick two of the four local charities listed.
You will also have an opportunity to write in a charity of your choice.
The two charities with the most votes will
be the ones we will support in 2025.
We raise
the money for these charities through our 50/50 drawings, not only at
the monthly meetings, but also at the Cowtown Vettes Car Show in the
fall.
So please
be generous when you participate in the drawings - the money is donated
to the charities we choose, but your chances of winning half the money
also increases!
Over the
next couple of months, we will be scheduling events at the Tarrant Area
Food Bank and Cook’s
Children’ s
Hospital, giving our club a chance to get involved in the
community.
We look forward to having a good time together
and also making a difference in the lives of others!
Debbie and Paula
Many thanks to Cowtown Vettes!
This organization for Fort Worth Corvette enthusiasts chose to donate
$1,000.00 to The WARM Place, which will provide one month of grief of
support for five children and their caregivers.

Sportsman Red 1954 Chevy Corvette
|
|
|
 |
After
the first fourteen or fifteen Chevy
Corvette units
were built at the Van Slyke Avenue location, production for the 1954
model year began in the renovated St. Louis facility in December 1953.
The new factory was capable of building 10,000 Corvettes a year, a
watermark that would not be reached until the 1960 model year. |
|
 |
|
The 1954 Chevy Corvette saw a number of changes, many of them
occuring during the year’s production run. The Blue Flame Six engine
had a change in the cam that boosted horsepower to 155, but the 150
decal on the painted valve cover remained unchanged. The only way to
identify the 155-horsepower cam was by three dots between the fifth
and sixth inlet cam lobes. Some of the valve covers were painted as
they had been the previous year, but others were chrome |

This rare Sportsman Red 1954 Chevy Corvette will
cross the Mecum Auctions block at its Glendale, Arizona event
Thursday, March 20th.

Corvette E-Ray is Ready to Play
|

|
|
After
years of hearing about Corvette owners having to put away their rides
for the winter, it’s been fun to watch E-Ray
owners as
they throw caution to the wind and drive their cars in the snow. GM
calls the all-wheel drive E-Ray a three-season sports car, but for the
those of you who are more adventurous, or if you’re a YouTuber looking
to make outdoor content in mid-January, the Corvette E-Ray could be the
perfect weather-beating machine to drive year-round.

|
After a couple of donuts in the parking lot, the scene cuts to nighttime
showing the car parked outside with an inch or so of snow covering the
hood and rooftop. So yeah, he’s really driving it in some not so great
conditions, but the car has no problem tackling the snow-covered road.
