 There were 3, 2017 Grand Sports onboard - the 3rd was yellow
   
 There was old glass in the event - this was one of the few C1s - a Vette Rod

BBQ and a Comedy
Rudy's BBQ catered the event

Comedian Steve Trevino provided the evening's entertainment
    
the blue lighting on the ship was almost an eerie feeling as we headed back to the hotel
    
  
    

Sunday 9/11/16
 
 Glenda & Doug were wearing their 9/11 tribute T-shirts  
    
 This year's event was designed to incorporate Sunday's Sept. 11 observance by paying tribute to the active members of the military still fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At least 20 wounded veterans will travel from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio to attend the event as
honored guests.

 The room continued to fill up for the ceremony 
    
 The silent auction had a lot of items

a Live Auction ran from 2-3pm 
    
The US Navy Color Guard “Presentation of the Colors” along with the National Anthem 
    
 The Marines were on to place a wreath in the bay, for members of the military who died in combat operations that followed the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
    
Stephen "Maverick" McCravy was the original founder of this event and presided over the program 
    
    
all branches of the service were recognized with each veteran present going to the front with their branch's flag & song 

Apologies for not being able to see / photograph all of our members due to our seats
   
 the MIA/POW and 9/11 Flags were also presented 
    
  The ceremony also included the wreath into the bay honor, a 21 Gun salute, Amazing grace was played on the bagpipes, and there was a folding of the Flag presentation 
   

Sunday Afternoon - TIME TO UNLOAD
 
 Gary & others waited around the aircraft shade until time to unload the Vettes   
    
 The ship closes to the public at 5pm

Almost immediately after that, the Vettes are carefully routed to the elevator for departure
 
 
we watched as the first ~100 were unloaded, then we headed to our Vettes 
    
    
    
They pulled Vettes from both ends of the ship to load the elevator which was more towards the back of the ship - Mary Ann & Don in these photos

Vettes continued coming off the ship for at least another hour

 This was a GREAT EVENT and for many of us it was our first time; Maverick and his team were awesome!

It truly moved us and we felt honored to be part of the event

We only wish that this was NOT the last time it would be held
 
    

Monday - 9/12/16
 
 
watching the ships coming and going ...from the room before heading back home 
    
 lots of good photo opportunities down there  
  
    
members departed at various times ...this route was out and up Hwy 77 to avoid I-35 
    
 you just never know what you might see along with way
