NCCC
(Corvette) Event Training, Practice Autocross
- Saturday, March 22, 2008
EVENT FLYER
Our yearly
event is just around the corner and to help
ensure it will be a success, we are hosting
an
NCCC Event Training / Practice Autocross
at
Mineral Wells Airpark.
So come out and
learn / see how timing works, how
to inspect a Vette for
competition, how work a corner, etc. Also
come out and
learn how a Vette handles, regardless if you
want to race or not - this is an opportunity to
play in your Vette, in a safe environment.
Note: This event is
a non-sanctioned
NCCC
Event
This event is for EVERYONE so come out and have
FUN. If you haven't attended one of
these... go to our web site, look on the
left-hand side for PHOTO or the SITE INDEX.
The last few of our practice Autocrosses were held in:
March of
2007 (Mineral Wells)
March
of 2006 (Pennington)
March &
July
of 2005 (Pennington)
April
of 2004 (Pennington)
July
of 2003 (Mineral Wells)
If you are unsure of how to
drive a course, there are numerous CTV
competitors which would be more than willing to
assist and ride with you. If you prefer,
you can even start off by riding with an
experienced
NCCC competitor in their car.
There will be more information at our
next monthly meeting and in the Low-Down or you can get a hold of
me.
Thanks,
Doug McMahan
Please plan to attend; the success of this
event depends on member participation and we
will have fun. Worker
sign up sheets will be available at the
membership meetings. Please take advantage
of this practice and also
sign up for one or
more worker positions.
Workers will communicate during the practice
autocross with FRS radios.
If you have one or more FRS radios
please
bring them.

•
Closed toe shoes are required for all drivers and
passengers
•
Helmets
are required for all drivers and passengers - refer
to your NCCC book or contact me if you have
questions on your helmet. You should be able
to borrow one if you don't have one. A legal
helmet (Snell 2000/2005) start at around $80 at most
motorcycle shops or check or check our website for
other options.
•
FRS Radios if you have
them
•
Sun Screen
•
Painters Tape / Contact Shelf Paper
- some people like to mask off the edge of
their wheel wells and rocker panels. They do
supposedly vacuum this facility but we have found
that sometimes gravel does exist. We will do
our best to layout the course to avoid as much as
possible.
•
Leaf Blower - these are
handy if we do have an area with gravel, it can be
blown off instead of having to sweep it off.
If you would like to stay
in a hotel on Friday and/or Saturday
night, rooms can be booked at the
Best Western Clubhouse Inn and Suite
located at 4410 Hwy 180 East in Mineral
Wells.
The General Manager is
Mr. Kiran Patel (if there are any
questions) and the phone is
940-325-2270. As usual, notify them that
you are with the Corvette group for the
best rate, which is $79.95 for 1 or 2
beds.
We have a couple of
members that booked rooms and they
provided the above rate - which is the
same rate for the the NCCC events in MW
this coming September |
NCCC = National Council of
Corvette Clubs
NOTE: for those of you that are
participating in the
Cowtown Cruiser
Program (CCP) this year, there are a minimum of
6 CCP points available between FW and the
Practice Autocross Location - contact me if you'd
like more information.
