DATE: FEBRUARY 7, 2004 (Saturday)  Announcement Page

LOCATION: The "Cat's (LaGrave Field) / City" Parking Lot

The 30th Committee would like to thank all who participated, bringing their Vettes out on this cool February Day.  Your patience and willingness to work with us while the Vette positioning took place was greatly appreciated.  The final count was 72 Vettes and 101 participants - Cowtown's largest group photo to date.

Next Steps: Ken Spencer will be have the film developed, then digitized so that he can provide it to me digitally, where I will digitally enhance the photo - prior to making prints available to the membership.  We will be working up a price sheet for the prints as well.

A Simulation / Mock-Up of our 30th Layout

After the lift was delivered around 10:45 AM and before everyone showed up, we did a test shot from 30' up in the air, looking South, to check shadows - bad news as we had expected.

Without the high-overcast that we had hoped for, the shadows on Sharon's face made her unrecognizable.  You notice we already had the cars facing South in anticipation of needing to shoot towards the North with the North sun bearing down on us from the South.

Ken Spencer (member) took the photos using a 30' scissor lift we rented from Taylor's Rentals

We positioned Larry & Sylvia Hoaldridge's '56 front center since he has been a loyal, contiguous Charter Member since the Club's founding in 1974, along with this being the oldest Vette at the photo shoot.

The photo layout centered around this Vette, which was followed by several more C1s, then C2s, C3s, C4s and C5s outward from the center.

Vettes were staged by generation and color as they arrived, allowing us to select Vettes to fill-in the arrangement while keeping like colors apart.

The first row was starting to fill-in, giving us a reference points for the rest of the grouping

Based off the Vettes that were validated to participate, especially the "vintage glass", we had strategically placed these Vettes by color.  As we started filling lining the Vettes up, we ended up with a few holes to fill once they arrived.

FRS radios where used to call up Vettes from the staging areas

Some of the original 1974 Members like Alan & Judy Shanholtz which showed up in their '61 "Low-Let" Vette

The event turned out to be a good social for many to stand around and catch up with each other.

Roger & Nelda's C5R caught lots of attention

Walt & Sharon Zschirnt's '74 Race Car was representing the Club's 1st year in the photo

Dennis & Jacque Erskine's 2004 Represented the Club's 30th Year in the photo
